Background

Jacob Cukjati was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He is the oldest of eight siblings. Growing up Jacob was a dedicated altar boy and athlete. He attended Antonian College Preparatory where he graduated with Honors and led his team to the State Final Four his senior year, and was chosen for the 5A District Team, 5A All-State Academic Team, and 5A All-State Second Team.

Education

Jacob attended Trinity University in San Antonio to play Division III Men's basketball for another three years. Trinity won its Conference for two consecutive years. Jacob earned a B.S. in Business Administration and minor in Spanish in 2014. After graduating, Jacob moved to Washington, D.C. where he attended American University Washington College of Law for his first year of law school. In D.C., Jacob clerked for the Honorable Thomas J. Motley at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable Gary E. Bair at the Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Jacob returned to Houston to finish law school at the University of Houston Law Center in 2015. During his 2L summer, Jacob worked as a student attorney at Houston’s Lone Star Legal Aid where he defended indigent clients from eviction in Justice Court after the April 2016 flood. Jacob also represented indigent clients in the UH Civil Clinic where he served as a student amicus attorney to give an ultimate recommendation to the judge about the best interests of two children. Jacob received his J.D. and graduated in the top half of his class in 2017.

Experience 

After law school and upon passage of the bar, Jacob joined a distinguished Plaintiff’s products liability law firm in Houston that specializes in tire and automobile defect cases around the nation. Jacob honed his skills in briefing and research on a large docket of complex product defect cases. Thereafter, Jacob joined another reputable personal injury law firm in Houston where he worked on several large products liability cases and oilfield injury cases.

Activities

In his spare time, Jacob enjoys staying active by lifting weights, boxing and running. He loves to spend time with his beautiful wife, Serena, and their identical twins, Crew and Rhodes. He also enjoys outdoor recreation including hiking and fishing.
